Next stop....Atlanta?

So in case you have been in a hole the past week, let me update you. After a quick 5+ hour drive up the scenic 5 freeway, we arrived at Tracy's around 12:30 am Saturday morning. After saying hello and chatting for a bit we all crashed--Me in the bed, Jeff on the air mattress and Matt on the couch. In the morning, we all awoke and enjoyed a lovely breakfast courtesy of Tracy and Nate and chatted about the upcoming day. Ben met up with us a couple hours later and then around 1:00 pm we headed down to the HP Pavilion for UCLA vs. Kansas. After navigating the streets of San Jose we parked our car and proceeded to unload the essentials: beer, vodka, chips, sunflower seeds, chairs, ice and a football. Perfect weather and for the next few hours soaked in the sun and enjoyed some good ole' fashioned tailgating. A couple more of my UCLA buddies met up with us in the parking lot as well as some of Ben's Kansas friends. Around 3:45, we packed up and walked into the game.

Long story short, UCLA played a flawless game and pounded the Jay hawks for a sweet Elite 8 victory. What a great game and such an awesome experience. Once i figure out how to post pictures I will post some of the celebrations. After the game, all 6 of us ran down to the bottom level and proceeded to watch the Bruins cut down the nets as well as slap hands to Afflalo and Mata as they walked into the tunnel. With our spirits high and voices sore, we slowly left the building already talking of how we were going to make a trip to Atlanta work.

We then met up with Tracy, Pete, Nate and Grace for some post game refreshments at Pedro's. I think one of the more memorable quotes was Pete's "Wow. I've never hung out with this many guys before!!". Keep in mind, there was a total of 8 guys at the table! Mexican food never tasted so good. There was lots of laughs and some quality pictures taken. Thanks to my family for being so gosh darn cool. Later that evening, after the Old Pro ended up being empty, Tracy took control and took us to Blue Chalk, a fun little nightclub/bar in San Jose. Again more laughs and quality memories--watching from above as Ben, Jeff and Matt picked up girls on the dance floor, seeing Tracy ruin Jeff's game with the acknowledgment that she knew the girl that Jeff was dancing with from work etc. So much fun. After that we headed home and crashed.

With Spring Break almost over, I head out to Las Vegas tomorrow for a weekend with Jeff and Steve in the City of Sin. I can only imagine what kind of stories I will come back with. On Saturday the Bruins play the Florida Gators in the Final Four in Atlanta. Sadly I will be watching this game from a sports book in Vegas. However, a Bruin victory sets in motion a string of events--fly from Las Vegas to Nashville, TN Sunday afternoon with Jeff. After meeting up with Ben in Nashville around 9:15pm, drive the 3 hours to Atlanta and crash with Matt in his hotel. Monday will be a mixture of seeing the sights of Atlanta and then getting to the Georgia Dome, the sight of the NCAA championship, early so we can try and scalp tickets. (Yes that is correct. I AM flying to Atlanta WITHOUT tickets to the game). With any luck, tickets will be purchased and I will be inside the Georgia Dome to watch the Bruins win their 100th NCAA National Championship and record 12th NCAA Basketball Championship. How awesome would that be?!! I can't wait.

Rejected

Another rejection letter. This time from Hastings. It was another reach school and i know that but it still gets me down. Still waiting for USF and Santa Clara, my two top choices and Golden Gate. This is not a good sign and gets me worried. My plans for the summer and relying on me getting into a law school and not having to worry about getting an internship or job. Im starting to get nervous.

On a happier note, UCLA basketball defeated Pitt today in the sweet sixteen. That means that tomorrow afternoon, yours truly will be traveling to San Jose to watch the Bruins play in the elite 8 against Kansas. Tickets are already assured thanks to Ben's ability to play 3 different people, including an Indian guy to retrieve the tickets this afternoon. Highlights include crashing on T and N's couch (Thanks guys; Love you lots), tailgating before the game, watching a great game with a Bruin victory (knock on wood) and then (tenatively) a trip to The City for a taste of the nightlife on Sat night. Shaping up to be a fun weekend excursion.

3 finals done, 1 to go at 8am. that would be a little over 7 hours from now. Ya doesn't that really sound exciting. I guess i should get back to studying

send me some good thoughts about law school...

Econ 172

Interesting thing happended today in my Econ 172 class: I walked in and sat down like normal; nothing too exciting. All of a sudden 4-5 African American students walk in and start to talk really loud about how they had to keep an eye on some guy in the back becuase they were going call the cops. Then one of the black guys, he was a big guy, walked to the back of the room and stood in front of this white guy and said "Man, we gonna roll. we gonna roll". I wasn't sure what that meant but im guessing he wanted to beat him up and wanted the white guy to go outside. Of course the white guy just sat there and said "Man im not going anywhere". then another of the black guys girl friends came up beside of him and said "stop it! that is what they want you to do". Again i didn't know what that meant but i didn't say anything. The two black kids walked back to the front but the black guy didn't look too happy about not fighting. All the while the whole class was turned around watching what was going on while the other black students in the front had been calling UCPD. Our professor wasn't there yet, of course. Thompson is always late. Anyway he finally got there and the black students that were still there just staring at the white guy in back of the room. Thompson asked what was going on and this black lady said "Are you the professor? One of your students accosted me!". Now i didn't know what this word meant but luckily i had my laptop and i looked it up on word and it means "to approach and stop in order to speak, in an aggressive manner". So i assume that he white kid said something racist about these black students and now they are angry. Thompson tried to mediate and was probably not very sensitive to the black student cause and ended up being yelled at by the big black guy. Anyway long story short, UCPD comes in and makes the white guy get up out of class and go talk to the police. Needless to say it was an intersting start of the class and actually woke me up so i only fell asleep one time the entire class. Thats pretty good considering.

A First Time For Everything

Today while sitting at work, pretending to do something worthwhile but mostly just daydreaming and studying, I decided that I was going to start a blog. I am not sure why I suddenly had the inspiration; i have known about blogs for many months now due to my mom, father, sisters, brother, brother in law all keeping or religiously reading blogs. I have checked my families blogs and was genuinely interested in what they had to say. But i never really had any desire to write one of my own.

Until this afternoon.

I am not sure who is going to read this. I may not even let others know that i am keeping it. but it seems that i have heard people say to me that "they don't really know me" and maybe that is my own fault. maybe that is because the words that i want to use to describe myself just don't come out verbally at the times when i want them to. It has always been easier for me to write then to speak. my emotions and thoughts are able to flow easier and i have the luxury of a backspace. maybe this is my attempt to try and explain to those who think that i don't share my feelings enough. Perhaps this blog will allow me to express myself.

I guess we will all have to wait and see.
